Handmade, on site, in Aldeburgh
Many of the pieces of jewellery in stock at Riley & Riley are handmade, hand set or hand finished. If you want your jewellery to be super local, choose a piece handmade by Mark Riley in Suffolk, such as the unique Aldeburgh Pebbles®. They are made on site, at Mark’s workbench in the Riley & Riley Aldeburgh showroom.

Responsible Craftmanship
Using recycled silver or gold, Mark part makes the jewellery at his bench. Forming the rings, bangles and pendants into the basic shapes. At this point the pieces are submitted to the Birmingham Assay Office for hallmarking. (All Mark’s pieces are fully hallmarked). Once they are returned, Mark completes the pieces, making them to size and texturing, or adding stones followed by meticulously hand polishing each and every piece.
Aldeburgh Pebbles®
Mark’s signature range is ‘Aldeburgh Pebbles®’ (see the Aldeburgh Pebbles® section for full details) a range designed by nature. Mark uses pebbles specially selected from Aldeburgh’s beach and creates beautiful pieces of jewellery in solid silver or gold, by casting in moulds he makes from the pebbles. Each is a one off, no two are alike and you receive the original pebble when you buy any piece of Aldeburgh Pebble® jewellery.
Personalised Jewellery
Mark makes a ‘personalised’ range of circle and bar pendants in silver and gold that look fabulous on their own but can also be personalised (for no extra charge). This is done by hand stamping individual letters. Popular choices are names and/or dates or short messages.
Mark also makes ranges of bangles, rings (both plain metal and stone set) and pendants in various sizes, widths and textures. Bangles and rings can be made in absolutely any size so you’re guaranteed to get the perfect fit.
Unique, Handmade Jewellery
You can commission Mark to make a piece especially for you, that’s handmade in Suffolk. That might be a pebble pendant from your own pebble (or fossil, or other 3d object), or one of his rings or pendants using your stone, a piece of jewellery using your own old gold or silver, one of his existing designs with stones of your choosing, or a complete design one-off.
