Battery Replacement
We replace batteries in most watches. The vast majority of these are done on site in Aldeburgh. We will ask you to leave your watch with us for around 20 – 30 minutes. We will test the existing battery, if it has expired it will be replaced. If it has not expired, we will examine the watch to see if there is any obvious simple reason for the watch’s issues. This could be dirty contacts, battery not correctly located, watch stem pulled out (surprisingly common) for example. The seals will be examined (but not replaced) and your watch closed up and set to time. We do not test for water resistance on site and so do not guarantee water resistancy but your watch would normally be no less resistant than prior to the battery replacement.
Battery replacement is from £6.00.
We can also carry out a battery and reseal to your watch where the level of water resistance is tested. This done by one of our external watchmakers and will take approximately 2 – 3 weeks.
Please note that water resistancy is dependant on case, glass and seal condition. Also dependant on button and stem being pushed fully home and screwed down if your watch has a screw down crown.
Capacitor Replacement
‘Kinetic’ and ‘solar’ watches do not use a battery, instead a capacitor. These generally last longer than batteries but still have a finite life and eventually need replacing. We can replace capacitors in most watches. You will need to leave your watch with us for this process and we will call you with a quote for cost and time. The above notes for water resistancy also apply.
Servicing
Your watch may need a service, which they do periodically. You will need to leave your watch with us and we will contact you with a quote for cost and time. Servicing is carried out by our external watchmakers and your watch will usually be guaranteed for one year following service.
Watch Strap Replacement
We carry a wide range of straps in stock. Fitting usually only takes a few minutes.
Watch Bracelet Adjustment
We can adjust the bracelet length on most watches. The cost for this process is from £15.00
